Job Description:
The Plant Machinist is responsible for operating manual and automated machines to produce precision parts and components according to required specifications. The role ensures accuracy, quality, and compliance through proper machine setup, operation, and inspection of finished outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, vernier calipers, and other instruments
- Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and quality standards
- Select appropriate tools, materials, and machining methods
- Align, secure, and adjust machine components and fixtures
- Monitor machine performance during operations
- Assemble or repair machine parts as needed
Person Specification
- The ideal candidate must have:
- At least 2 years of experience as a machinist
- Ability to use precision measuring tools accurately
- Knowledge of metal properties and machining materials
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Physical strength and stamina for heavy work and field conditions
- High School diploma or vocational training completion
- Good moral character and work discipline
- Ability to consistently use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
